With this new production of the Petites Noces (The Little Marriage), we are continuing our cycle of collaborative opera with another iconic Mozart and Da Ponte work from the literary opera repertoire. The plot of this adaptation for younger audiences is designed to offer an introduction to the world of opera and focuses specifically on the four characters of Figaro, Susanna, the Count and the Countess and the lusts, desires, seductions, betrayals and acts of revenge which define their relationships. However the real driving force in the plot, who disrupts the best-laid plans with his impetuousness, is the hot-headed youth Cherubino, a typical adolescent in pursuit of love, who is overwhelmed by the first flush of passion. Cherubino is the perfect guide through the ins and outs of this work originally subtitled “The Mad Day”. As a spectator and protagonist, he will help the audience, who are of a similar age, to get to the crux of the story and follow the various characters through all the twists and turns of the plot.

To get the most out of this new collaborative venture, young and old audience members alike are invited to take part in a free warm-up workshop 90 minutes before each show.
