Fauré Quartet for piano and strings No. 1 Op. 15
Brahms Quintet for piano and strings Op. 34

Atelier Jeune Public Comme au cinéma

After comparing and contrasting Schubert and Schumann at his recital last season, the young French pianist offers a new programme on this Sunday morning with the pairing of Fauré and Brahms. A fine writer of melodies, with an affinity for the voice, Fauré’s catalogue for piano is still one of the most interesting in the late 19th and 20th century French school. His Nocturnes, Impromptus and other Barcarolles exert an undeniable charm with their classical form mingled with reminiscences of Chopin, Saint-Saëns and Liszt. The famous Quintet opus 34 by Brahms is without doubt one of the works in which the musician gives the fullest expression to his inspirations.
